How to Become an Esthetician

If you enjoy watching Dr. Pimple Popper videos, learning about skin care, or helping others with their skin, then becoming an Esthetician may be the perfect career move for you. In order to start your journey of becoming an esthetician you will need to do a few things like getting your cosmetology degree and undergoing 260-700 hours of training at an accredited school. While this may seem like a lot of work, you will learn the basics of what you need to know so that you are better prepared to face a real client with real needs.

Some of the things that you will learn to do in cosmetology school will tie into what you will do in your everyday life as an esthetician. These things can include giving facials, acne treatments, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, body scrubs, masks and wraps, hair removal, and even makeup. Not only will you perform these services, but you are also expected to interact with your clients and make recommendations on skin care products and procedures.

After you have gone through the required training and schooling and have been certified by the Ohio State Cosmetology and Barber Board, then you will be able to start working at salons and even start a small business of your own if that is what your goal is. It is very important, even with your training, to stay on top trends that are going on right now. Not only will it help you gain clientele, but it will also aid you in answering any questions your existing customers have. There are many places you can go to get different certifications to grow your skill set, and one of these places is Mansfield Ohio's very own, Fairlawn Aesthetic MD. Here you can take classes with our instructor Deborah Golden. She specializes in teaching students about Acne Treatment/High Frequency, Microdermabrasion, Chemical Peels, and Dermaplaning. How Often Should I Get a Chemical Peel?

Can you get chemical peels too often? Chemical peels are helpful for a variety of skin conditions. They are often used as acne treatment and can target age spots, improving blemishes, fine lines, and wrinkles. Because of their healing properties, it may be tempting to use chemical peels excessively. However. doing so too much can backfire and create more skin issues, such as: -redness -discoloration -hyperpigmentation -irreversible spots -bacterial infections Ironically, if you use chemical peels too often, you may risk bringing on the issue you want to treat. So, how often is too often? The answer depends on the strength of the chemical peel. For instance, are you using at-home products or medical-grade peels from an esthetician? Chances are if you're using a peel you bought from the store, the chemicals are not as strong as professional peels. Although this is generally a con, you can typically use these superficial-level products more often without adverse reacti...
